Inspired by the oceans that connect us
We are all part of the living world and the oceans that connect us all. Similarly, everything at Dragon Bay is connected to and by Cayman’s waters - which provide us with a wondrous array of adventures and inspire us with their natural beauty.
Developer Michael Ryan, from before inception of the Dragon Bay project has always been committed to preserving the pristine marine environment that surrounds us, and joining him in this commitment was one of Dragon Bay’s first partners – the Ocean Futures Society led by Jean-Michel Cousteau.
The result of this successful partnership is the renowned Ambassadors of the Environment programme at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman that attracts both children and adults in the exploration and education of the islands’ marine ecology and conservation practices and ideologies.
Beyond its partnership with and the creation of AOTE at the resort, Dragon Bay is also focused on putting green practices into play. From the very beginning the development has implemented an aggressive recycling programme internally eliminating the use of Styrofoam, plastic bags and bottles, recycling paper, tin cans and batteries.
Dragon Bay acknowledges its environmental responsibility as a leader in Real Estate and Development as well as the tourism market and this foundation has been created to allow everyone to participate in and contribute to the ecological conservation of the community and establish a sustainable environment.
Throughout the year Dragon Bay will continue their green initiatives with each month having a unique initiative which will help reduce negative impacts on the environment and support the efforts of other agencies to protect and promote a healthy future for the environment and wildlife of the Cayman Islands.

Fundraising to aid the Blue Iguana Recovery Programme, the Blue Iguana being one of the rarest species of iguana left in the world and only found here in the Cayman Islands.
World Habitat Day, being held on the 4th, has been celebrated every year since 1985 when it was designated by the General Assembly and is generally celebrated on the first Monday in October. This is a day where the world can reflect on the state of human settlements and the basic right to adequate shelter and to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat.
The Dragon Bay Foundation will be hosting the Legends Tennis Tournament to support the Crisis Centre. Although not a green initiative in itself, since inception, Dragon Bay has supported the Crisis Centre which provides temporary shelter and supportive environment for abused women and children. National Recycling Week also takes place in November where we will be offering proposals to recycle waste on projects as well as working with other hotels and organizations to recommend other sustainable activities which will result in the recycling of waste on the Island.
